House Plants
There is no better way to cheer up your home than with a living house plant. Choose a plant from our indoor range at the Doyles Nursery & Garden Centre shop.
Houseplant hints and tips:
Indoor plants, just like outdoor plants need regular care. Water as required and make sure to feed them on a general basis. Baby Bio is the ideal feed for indoor plants.
Vegetable Plants
We carry a full range of seasonal vegetable plants. Our aim is to meet with all our customer requirements. If there is anything you think we have failed to stock please let us know and we will try to source the plants for you.
Vegetable gardening tip:
To improve vegetable yields a good organic manure such as Gee Up or a vegetable feed such as Growmore should be applied at the beginning of the growing season (April).
Herbaceous perennials are plants that flower and then retreat below ground during the winter. They will reappear the following year to flower again. They flower at their best in the third year. After the third year it is recommended that you lift the root in the dormant season, split them and replant. They will continue to flower the following year as good as before. Herbaceous perennials are hungry plants so it is important to feed them using a product like fish blood and bone which is a good all round slow release food.
A top dressing of Gee Up farm yard manure can also be applied in the autumn or in spring. FYM feeds the plants and also acts as a weed suppressant whilst helping to reduce water loss from the soil.
Annuals
What joy beautiful annual plants give to us all. Annual plants flower their socks off all summer, produce seed and die at the end of the season. We use them in the garden for their prolific flowering and and variety in colour and form. It is important to protect annuals from frost early in the season.
Feeding Tip:
To enhance the production of flowers it is important to feed them every 10 to 14 days with a liquid plant food such as phostrogen or tomato food.
